On it goes

A big part of me wanted it all to be over after yesterday's primaries. I wanted to move on and focus on the Democratic win in November. I wanted the Hillary bashing to stop and the Republican debating to start. I wanted to see the Democratic party rally together for one person and forge ahead.

The negativity coming out of the Hillary and Obama campaigns is counterintuitive. They're pointing out to the whole country their opponent's flaws and lowering their own respectability at the same time. Maybe it gets a few votes, but it also seems to give the Republicans talking points to use in the near future.

I was especially disappointed to see Hillary's Red Phone spot. That kind of fear-mongering should be left to the Republicans. They own it. Maybe Hillary also ran it in the hopes of seeming tough against McCain. In any case it was in bad taste and I'm sorry she had to resort to that.

If what they say about the math is true - that it is impossible for her to regain the delegate lead needed to take the nomination - it does no good for Hillary to continue her campaign and could further divide the Democratic party.

While she may be more qualified than Obama, most of what I'm hearing and reading points to the fact that that's not enough. It may be enough to be President, but not enough to beat McCain. I'm terrified that there are many Obama supporters out there who would rather vote for McCain or not at all than vote for Hillary. That scares me enough to let her go, and I'm thinking there are super delegates who feel the same way.

I'm pretty sure Chris is one of those that would go for McCain if Hilary gets the nom. I pretty much just vote "blue."

Well, *phew* - was wondering if you'd just gone mute for 6 days.

What do you think about the possibility of both Clinton and Obama on the same ticket?

The idea of both of them on the same ticket does sound like a dream, at least for clinching the presidency, but I really don't know enough about the dynamics between Pres and VP to guess how their relationship might play out. Would she even accept being VP? Would it just end up being uncomfortable with Bill lurking around? I don't know. I'd be interested in hearing a discussion about it, even if it's just speculation.

But Obama will do fine on his own. I don't know any Clinton supporters who don't see his potential to move mountains. He can count on me. Yes, he can.

I don't think Clinton would play second fiddle on the ticket.

I worked with Obama in my previous life and will say this for the man: When he spoke, people listened. I recall asking who he was after a meeting specifically because of the way he took command of the room.

I was kinda wondering if you had any insider info. ;-)

*laugh* No, I am afraid not. However, if I did, I would not refrain some spilling it out completely right here in your comment section. I am exactly that tight-lipped.

So, you have not been sucked into using Twitter, eh? Bev and Chris managed to convince me. They sold me my first hit and now I'm a regular, long-fingernailed Twitter junkie. What kind of company are you keeping? ;)

No, I haven't started Twittering yet. Maybe if my life was more exciting or my mobile wasn't the equivalent of a rotary phone (which I'm okay with). I'm pacing myself with the high technologies.

RE: Her husband Twitters - mostly about his long training runs. Robin is such a stud ;)

Angie- you should Twitter! We have entirely too much fun typing back and forth about nothing in particular. You can set it up on your computer and just use that.

It's addicting. Pass the Twitter crackpipe, RE :)

Okay, I'm professing my super geekdom here. What is Twitter? Am I missing something spectacular?

First, my hat is off to HC for her comeback. She must feel some redemption for those that counted her out. I never did - she is too resilient. I just hoped for an Obama knockout punch to finish this up. I am just too stressed out by it all! Isn't this all about me??? :)

On a superficial note: Did anyone else think the Red Phone ad was just a tad bit funny? It just seemed a little old fashioned - I mean is there even REALLY a red phone with a blinking light anymore? It seems to scream "1970" to me. And it's funny that this was used all the way back in '84 (Mondale used against Hart) Next up could be a comeback of "where's the beef"?
I loved those ads as a kid.

My thought is Hillary would never accept a #2 spot..but I could be wrong. I don't see it as a Dream ticket though. To me, it seems like settling. Or taking the easy way out, because it was just too hard of a decision to make. I view this as IF we really want to break away from politics of old - a fresh start, if you will - Democrats should break away totally from Iraq and push for reform in Washington. Having Hillary in there would muddle that up, I fear. And just think how much material this would give McCain and the Republicans (with both on the ticket) - there would be so much for them to criticize and exploit. Our chances to win could slip away.

As an Obama supporter, I'm sad to see the "Hillary is a Monster" story this morning. That adviser has just made it more of an uphill battle for Obama in PA. Idiot, Idiot, Idiot! At least she resigned. But, this will be spun for days, I'm sure.

And the saga continues...I may have to up the ante on my wine drinking at night just to hang on....

Twitter - website where you pick a username and enter your phone number.

Users send a text message to the number 40404 and that text message gets sent to everyone who, on the Twitter website, has chosen to "follow" them.

For instance, George W decides to sign up for twitter. If I'm a twitter user, I can say, "Follow George W." This means when he sends a text to 40404, that text will go to my phone - it's like mass e-mail, but via text message and no one's actual cell phone number is revealed.

So, as a twitter user, people follow you (get your text message updates) and you follow other people (get their text message updates). If you have 5 followers, they'll all get your text message (listed as from Twitter, under your user name).

That probably didn't make a damn bit of sense. It didn't to me until I joined and started to use it.

Amy: I agree it's getting uncomfortable and unhealthy for the Dems.

RE: Thanks for the Twitter explanation. I learned something and certainly couldn't have explained it better.
